NARGAROTH
Nargaroth is a black metal band from Germany. The main and only participant is Kanwulf. Kanwulf’s statements are often very contradictory, it is believed that he has a split personality, mental instability and much more.
Nargaroth was established in 1996. In 1995, Kanwulf’s best friend hanged himself. It came as a shock to the musician.
At that time, Kanwulf was a teenager who played an old bass and growled his verses.
A demo of “Orke” was recorded, consisting of an intro and seven instrumental tracks, as Kanwulf did not have the equipment to record vocals. However, this did not affect the demand. The “Orke” edition of 150 copies was completely sold out.
After that, Kanwulf now records a very rare demo “Herbstleyd”, which was released in 200 copies.
In 1998, Kanwulf was approached by people from the German label No Colors, who suggested that he re-record “Herbstleyd” and release it on CD and vinyl. After much persuasion, Kanwulf agreed, and the promised discs went on sale in 1999. Many consider this record a classic of black metal.
Next year, another Nargaroth album called “Amarok” is coming out, containing some old recordings, including a cover of the Burzum song “Black Spell of Destruction”.
In 2000, Kanwulf recorded a demo called “Fuck Off Nowadays Black Metal”. Why is there a demo after two albums? It’s just that Kanwulf likes the sound of demos and rehearsal recordings. “Fuck Off Nowadays Black Metal” was released on cassette (333 copies) and vinyl (100 copies) by Sombre Records and contained various songs from the demo “Herbstleyd” and the upcoming album “Black metal ist Krieg”, as well as two previously unreleased tracks: “Tod den Feinden” and “Fuck Off: Last Episode!”
In 2001, the album “Black Metal ist Krieg” was released on the No Colors Records label, which Kanwulf dedicated to his favorite genre. This CD was very different from his earlier works. It was released in the format of a regular CD and a digipack. One of the most famous compositions: “Black Metal Ist Krieg” is an uncompromising slotting, at the same time, the next “Seven Tears Are Flowing The River” is very melodic and lyrical (as far as these concepts apply to BM).
In 2002, the album “Rasluka Part II” was released, which Kahnwulf dedicated to his best friend, who hanged himself in 1995, and Bon Scott, the AC/DC vocalist, who died in 1980.
There is also Rasluka Part I, which was originally planned to be released as a split with Moonblood recordings, but due to problems with Sombre Records, Kanwulf decided to release this album on No Colors. The year 2003 was marked by the release of “Black metal ist Krieg” on vinyl, as well as the release of the album “Geliebte des Regens”, which, after a two-year delay, was finally released on October 26, 2003.
In 2004, the album “Prosatanica Shooting Angels” was released. The sound has generally retained the tradition of the two previous eps, but has become more traditionally Black and blasphemous.…
A new album was released in 2007.. Once again, Kanwulf appears in all his contradictions. The material, according to him, was recorded back in the days of “Black Metal ist Krieg”, however, stylistically it is quite far from the 2001 release.
