KHOLD
The Khold project was formed by the efforts of Sarke (drums), Gard (vocals, guitar), Rinn (guitar), Eikind (bass) in Oslo (Norway) in 2000. Initially, only one demo of two songs was recorded, which were later included in the mini-album “De Dødes Tjern”, released in 2005.
After the release of the demo, the band was taken on board by the Moonfog label, and in April 2001, the debut full-length album “Masterpiss of Pain” was released. All lyrics and lyrics were written by Hilde Numoen. Khold’s first album received very high ratings from magazines, radio stations and fans from all over the world.
In the fall of 2001, the band left Eikind and was replaced by Thomas Brandt. Khold’s music can be described in just a few words – raw and primitive metal, based solely on the “naked” playing of guitar, bass and drums. Khold is often called one of the best representatives of the “old school of metal”, but, however, according to the musicians themselves, there are many new elements in the band’s sound.
The guys draw inspiration mainly from the work of Bathory and Darkthrone, and occasionally you can see some “cliches” that are very similar to the music of these great bands. All Khold texts are written in Norwegian, and in the old style (18th century). Darkness and gloom dominate the band’s lyrics.
The recording of the second full-length album titled “Phantom” takes place in the Livingroom Studio, it begins in December 2001 and continues through January 2002. The album was released on April 15, 2002. The bass guitar parts on the album are performed by Sir Graanug from Tulus, who left the band in 2003. After the album’s release, Khold embarked on a Scandinavian tour with Satyricon. The musicians invited Thomas Bandt as a tour bass player. Later, Thomas Arnesen (Grimd) was recruited to replace the permanent bass player.
Thomas performed bass guitar parts on the next album, titled “Mørke Gravers Kammer”, which was released in April 2004 through Candlelight Records. The album was recorded and mixed at the Sub Sonic Society Studio (Oslo, Norway) in August-October 2003. A video clip was shot for the track “Død”, which is included in the album.
For the release of the next album, the band is changing the label again. This time the contract was signed with Tabu Recordings, and Candlelight Records publishes albums in the USA. The recording of the full-length album “Krek” began in May-June 2005 and took place at Panser Studio. The album was released in November of the same year. Video clips were shot for the songs “Innestengt I Eikekiste” and “Blod og Blek”.
In the spring of 2006, a message appeared on the MySpace page stating that the group’s activities were suspended indefinitely because the members needed time to pursue their other projects. Gard and Sarke have dedicated themselves to working in the Tulus band, which is releasing a full-length album in 2007. Guitarist Rinn has dedicated himself to his Sensa Anima project and producing for other bands.
In 2007, news appeared that Khold had begun work on their fifth full-length album, which was titled “Hundred År Gammal” and was released on June 9, 2008. In 2011, Peaceville Records reissued the band’s first and second albums, “Phantom” and “Masterpiss Of Pain”, which included an additional bonus track. Copied from Dark-World.ru .
